Recognition of Examinations


On this webpage you will find information on the administrative process of examination recognitions. Recognition of examinations is regulated in § 78 UG 2002 and § 63 para. 8 and 9 UG 2002. According to § 78 para. 4 UG, applications for recognition must be decided upon no later than two months after receipt of the application.

The entry of recognitions of compulsory courses, restricted elective courses, free elective courses as well as a pre-recognition notification (in German “Vorausbescheid”) in the context of a stay abroad (ERASMUS+ etc.) is described below.

Recognitions SPO-Studies

Students who have passed their secondary school leaving examination (Matura) within the framework of the curriculum of VET (Vocational Education and Training) Schools and Colleges of Business Administration, of Management, of Tourism, of Fashion, of Art and Design (kaufmännische höhere Schulen oder höhere Lehranstalten für wirtschaftliche Berufe, für Tourismus, für Mode und Bekleidungstechnik sowie für künstlerische Gestaltung) within the last six years from the date of application receive recognition for the following courses according to Curriculum 23W of the Bachelor’s Program in Business Administration:

  • D.1 Introduction to Accounting (Rechnungswesen), VO (4 ECTS)
  • D.2 Financial Accounting (Externes Rechnungswesen), UE (2 ECTS)
  • D.3 Management Accounting (Internes Rechnungswesen), UE (1 ECTS)


The following courses are recognized for the expiring Curriculum 17W of the Bachelor’s Program in Business Administration:

  • C.5 Introduction to Accounting (Rechnungswesen), VO (3 ECTS)
  • C.6 Basic Accounting (Rechnungswesen), UE (3 ECTS)


Recognition is possible until the end of the second semester after enrollment. The application must therefore be submitted no later than September 30 or February 28/29, depending on whether the second semester is a summer or winter semester.
