Sociology

The Master’s Program Sociology serves to expand, deepen and specialize the knowledge and skills acquired in the Bachelor’s Program. It has an emphasis on sociological theory and advanced methods of empirical social research. The sociological subjects are extended by an elective from neighboring disciplines (e.g. Business Administration, Law and Political Science, Cultural Studies), thus continuing the interdisciplinary character of the program.

The education is rounded off by the Research Laboratory, in which students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in one area. Areas offered include the theory and history of sociology, international and comparative social research, applied sociology, gender studies and gender studies, sociology of economic institutions and cultures, sociology of culture and contemporary diagnosis, sociology of medicine and health, science studies, and sociology of science.
