Study structure

The Master's program Political and Empirical Economics is one program that leaves room for several specializations within two main areas: Political Economics - with a focus on the role of institutions and the political process - and Empirical Economics - with a focus on quantitative analyses. For Political Economics there is a combination of courses in both German and English offered. Empirical Economics is exclusively taught in English.

The emphasis on Empirical Economics can be studied in a double degree program with the University of Udine as well. For this mobility program an application by no later than the end of October is required which includes the following documents:

  • Complete application form
  • Personal statement (Motivation)
  • Proof of English Proficiency*
  • Transcript of Records (Udine) / Diploma Supplement (Graz)
  • Contact details of two reference persons

*) The University of Graz requires the proof of English proficiency by one of the following four tests:

  • TOEFL computer based Test (220 points required)
  • TOEFL internet based Test (87 points required)
  • IELTS-Test (6 points required)
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English

The test may not be older than two years.
