Start-Up Financing
Applications for start-up funding for research projects must be submitted to the Vice-Dean of Research of the School of Business, Economics and Social Sciences.
All researchers at the School of Business, Economics and Social Sciences who are employed by the University of Graz are eligible to apply (this also applies to project staff who are endeavouring to acquire their own - new - research project).
Funding is provided for the preparation of project proposals to domestic and foreign non-profit research funding institutions. Pure dissertation and habilitation projects are excluded from funding.
One-off personnel funds of up to EUR 2,000 are financed. The funds are earmarked, i.e. they are used to finance a research assistant for a maximum period of six months (work contract). Conversion into material resources is excluded.
Funding is primarily available for applications from researchers who are not currently assigned project staff financed by third-party funds as part of their research activities at the University of Graz. The funding should primarily be used to provide temporary support in the form of additional personnel resources for the application. Own funding is therefore not intended. Priority will also be given to applications relating to research projects outside the School's centres. Within one year, one application per applicant will be funded.
Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis. Applications are approved on a quarterly basis (2 January, 1 April, 1 July, 1 October).
In the case of an approved application, proof of the conclusion of the work contract and the submission of the research project must be provided.
