Admission to the Study Program

The admission to the Master’s Program Computational Social Systems is limited. In order to enroll, your prior study program and your English language proficiency are crucial.

You are able to enroll, if you are a Bachelor’s Degree graduate in a field of study, with one of the following majors:

  • Business Administration,
  • Sociology,
  • Psychology,
  • Law and
  • Computer Science.

At least 60 ECTS credit points must be attributable to the respective subject area from one prior study.

If you haven’t acquired the necessary 60 ECTS credit points, but you did obtain at least 30 ECTS credit points in one of the disciplines listed above, there is a possibility of being enrolled under conditions. This means that you will need to complete certain courses to get to the threshold of 60 ECTS credit points in one discipline. Which courses you will have to do, will be decided upon at the time of admission on an individual level.

In the course of the Master’s Program CSS, the specialization is tied to the respective focus in the prior study program. You can find more information about the requirements for choosing a specialization on the respective sites.

CSS is an English language Master’s Program. While applying for CSS, you will need to prove your English language proficiency.

  1. Cambridge Advanced English Certificate (CAE, grade C or score of at least 180) or
  2. Cambridge Proficiency English Certificate (CPE) or
  3. IELTS Academic (score of at least 7) or
  4. TOEFL iBT (score of at least 95) or
  5. Telc C1 or
  6. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE, score of at least 66) or
  7. 8 consecutive years of at least two subjects taught in English in secondary school or
  8. 4 consecutive years of English lessons on the secondary level in High School with additional final exam in English (Matura exam) or
  9. a completed study program taught in English.

The certificates 1 - 6 must not be older than two years at the time of admission.

You can apply for the Master’s Program at the University of Graz or at TU Graz. There are no benefits from choosing one over the other, as both admissions are regarded as equal.
