Caring Democracies - Caring Technologies: Her
The CIRAC film series this autumn features three films that focus on how technologies transform practices and politics of care in democracies. We ask: Who assumes responsibility for sustainable and inclusive design, and for the use and regulation of data-intensive technologies when big tech firms do not seem to care about democratic values?
Her is by now a classic amongst science fiction films that imagine companionship with communicative artifical intelligence. With this film, we want to explore questions around the role of AI companions; how we come to care about technologies and how we imagine them to care about us.
